Finding wedding vendor in Bali: getting references

Browsing around and digging to find what’s right for you and your fiancee is the first hurdle you’ll need to overcome. Don’t worry about being resourceful. This is the time you’ll want to get as much as input as possible.

  • Ask the venue that you’ve set for your wedding in Bali. Is there anyone that they’d like to recommend for your wedding? Do they have contacts, or at least, know several wedding vendors that have used their venue?
  • Web search! Browse browse and more browsing. You may find hidden gem if you do your homework. Scour listings of local wedding vendors, Bali has plenty of professional vendors. But if you have your eyes on a specific vendor located outside of the island, say, in Jakarta or Surabaya, then it won’t hurt asking them whether they have experience in hosting a wedding in Bali. But as a rule of thumb, going local is still the best option when it comes to choosing a wedding vendor in Bali.
  • The old school way: ask for recommendations from friends and relatives! Is there any friend that have recently been wed? How about your cousin? Asking around the people you know may surprisingly be more helpful than you may expect. You may not end up using their recommendation, but at the very least you can talk to them and find out their experience in hiring certain wedding vendors, and what to look out for.

Check the dates of availability

This is one of the very first things that you’re going to have to make sure. Call up your Bali wedding vendor early on and ask whether they’re available for the dates that you’ve set up. You’ve got your eyes set on a certain wedding vendor and all. Then you find out that they’re already booked on the dates that you’ve set. That won’t be a nice feeling at all finding that out.

Event planning 101: Get every detail in writing!

When it’s time for you to get a quote, not just an estimate, it’s time to pay attention to everything detailed on the list. Every item on the quote must be clear. If you are not sure about something, then ask. This is highly important as a safety measure for yourself. In case a certain item is not available during the day for whatever reason, you’ll have a record. While no one wants a dispute, being as ready as possible would only help you when the time comes.
